Here are 13 definitions for the word QUARENDEN shared exactly as I received them, but only one is correct. Please send your votes by responding to the Dixonary group with what you believe are two definitions most likely to have come from a dictionary before the deadline, which is FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2026, at 9 a.m. Eastern Time or the corresponding time where you live! https://www.timeanddate.com Any misspellings, weird spacing, etc., are my fault and not an indication of the accuracy of a particular definition. Good luck!

1. A breed of horse developed in the United States with a four-beat ambling gait.

2. A criminous clerk, that is, a cleric accused of a serious secular crime, that Henry II of England sought, in the Constitutions of Quarenden (1164), to make accountable to royal courts of law, rather than to ecclesiastical courts under benefit of clergy.

3. A dark-red dessert apple.

4. A familial allotment in the medieval system of land tenure found in the Highlands, Orkney, and Shetland.

5. A group of ten Jewish adult men required for certain religious obligations. In all traditional orthodox practising Jewish religious movements, only men aged 13 years and older may constitute such a group.

6. a place where people can be isolated, particularly an isolation ward or hospital for infectious

diseases.

7. A room with three or more entrances, one of which leads to a hallway.

8. A suit for peace; a formal request, usually initiated by a losing party in a conflict, in order to stop fighting but avoid unconditional surrender.

9. A traditional, tailored tweed coat designed for informal horseback riding, characterized by a fitted waist, flared skirt, slanted pockets, and a long center vent for ease of movement.

10. A type of piston engine where three or four cylinder banks share the same crankshaft.

11. The beginning of the restoration and aftercare of  an exhausted or closed quarry.

12. the fortieth part of something; any small amount.

13. The provisional holding of an estate or right by an impartial party until lawful ownership is decided.

2 for “criminous” and 4 because I considered something like that as my fake, although not nearly as convincing.
