Hello, everyone, thank you for creating the group.

I recently acquired a U1 disklavier piano. The bolts that hold the music rail hinge had come loose and a few dropped out. I was able to move some from the other hinges, ending up with 2 bolts in each. I'm referring to them as bolts, but they're bevel head, machined screws, I believe.  I'm wondering if anyone has a source for them? Those in this piano are gold plated.

This is a great site and really appreciate it.

Thanks

Jerry

Can you send a photo and possibly a photo with the screw next to a ruler for size as they changed almost every few years.

I would take one to a hardware store like ace and see if they have any. Stores like ace often have those unusual things

I was in ACE, no luck.  We had a better hardware store that had racks and racks of nuts and bolts but they closed.  As near as I can tell, they are M2.5 x .45mm pitch with an overall length of 4.75mm.  My gauges go small but it is hard to tell the exact pitch even under a microscope.  They are bevel headed and gold plated.  They are holding for now.  I was thinking of backing them all out and reinstalling using loctite as I don't see any reason to ever have to remove the music rail/table/holder - don't know the proper name for it.  I appreciate the help.  Dont see a way to upload pictures here.  Other than this minor issue and a vibration that sounds like a loose washer on a bolt when I hit G2 this U1 is in fantastic shape.  It will be tuned on June 11th and I can't wait.

If you can get that specific, try googling for that size screw. Also, consider aircraft supply shops that carry unusual screws. Aircraft spruce is one of these online companies.

Thanks for the links.  I should have mentioned maybe, that my usual user ID is CNCJerry on most sites.  I have a lot of experience in mechanics and have a pretty complete machine shop in my basement. I could make the screws, or at least gold plate them myself.  Having written that, that would probably be the quickest solution, that is, to purchase the correct size bevel head machine screw and just gold plate them.  I was hoping that someone who repairs Yamaha pianos would point me to a parts source.  Maybe I should just call Yamaha, but I would think they would cost $50 by the time they get here.  These screws are different than those that hold the hinge to the keyboard cover as they are standard, gold-plated, wood screws.  The machine screws on the other side of the hinge use threaded inserts in the wood for strength.  These are the screws that are missing.

Thanks again for the links.  I've not seen that Albany County selection site before.
