Hi Aaron,
Just wondering if you know this new unit can support the same communication protocol that PRC used before? To know if we can use other 3rd party applications like DKVBrowser and Android app?
Cheers,
Dmitry

Yet Analog MIDI (legacy Pianosoft Plus Audio, QRS Pianomation, and PianoDisc CDs) is still not supported by Enspire, right?
I wonder if this apparent DKC-900 support means the feature will be coming to Enspire too.

Dmitry,

Based on what I found with the DKC-800 and DKC-850, the answer is almost certainly "no".  Or, if it is there, it is barely there.  Even if it is there, DKVBrowser would need to be updated to talk to it anyway (as was true of the 800 and 850 previously).  If I had one to test with, I would.

I did reach out to Yamaha to see if they would lend me one like they did with the previous models, but I wasn't able to obtain one.

I am in touch with Yamaha with respect to upgrading my Mark IV… waiting to hear back, as it seems they’re still training technicians… and I’m in Canada, which probably adds to the timeline.

When I get it done… Kevin, would it help if I made my piano available online to you? DMZ it on my network and give you access to it? I realize that’s a far cry from having it sit there… I’m not sure exactly what may have changed in the API… but perhaps doable if you want to, and can’t get your hands on one.

Thanks for the offer, and it would probably work, at some level.  However, I'm not inclined to spend the amount of time that would probably be necessary in order to get it to work, only to be disappointed by how much functionality I'd be able to provide anyway due to the limited protocol.  That's what happened with the 800 and 850.  A ton of work, only to find that they had massively crippled the protocol (for no good reason, as far as I can tell.)

If I had one locally, I'd at least be able to do it at my leisure, without bothering anyone else.  I'd also certainly do it if I upgraded my own piano, but I'm still not convinced it's actually an "upgrade" (for me, anyway, with a massive collection of songs on my piano's hard-drive).

Thanks again for the offer though!

Hi Stephen

I’ve tried several Yamaha Authorised Sales Outlets in my area but so far none has been able to assist.   I’m waiting for word back from Rimmers  Music who are a fairly large outlet throughout the UK.   Depending on where you are in the UK you may have access to other larger outlets.
