Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake

Happy New Year to everyone ❤️ What image could go with such a large perspective as the poem is asking for? The eruption of the wave at the red lichen-covered rocks  in Tasmania somehow spoke to me.  Interestingly I typed big-picture into the thesaurus and the strongest recommendation was “essence”. I like that, I’d  like to dwell with that lovely word and concept for a while..

Thank you for this wonderful poem, Gabby.  It will need many readings.  And thanks, too for all your many contributions over the year.  Happy New Year!!!
