Good morning, I hope you all had a blessed Easter and bank holiday.

Today I would like to hear your best tips for reducing waste.

I find recycling unusual items can be tricky so use this website for finding out what can be recycled where using my postcode: https://www.recyclenow.com

I also use Terracycle for info on specific recycling schemes from manufacturers for the waste streams for their products. They also offer (at a cost) boxes that can be used to collect difficult to recycle products. This may be of use if you are able to fund this option: https://www.terracycle.com/en-GB/brigades.

I'd love to hear your ideas!

My apologies for not replying to this email sooner - we have had all the family staying for Easter and the week afterwards which has meant I;m just getting back to normal.

I have three tips for recycling/reducing waste

1.  Brita water filters can be recycled at Robert Dyas stores
2.  I no longer buy flowers out of season, and try to only use what I have foraged (sustainably) or grown in the garden.  When they have gone over I compost them.
3.  Years ago I swopped tissues for cotton handkerchiefs - I only buy tissues now when someone has a heavy cold.

Hope that helps

1. Use solid soap (in cardboard sleeve or none) and put all the bits that are too small to use at the basin/sink,  into a small mesh bag and use it the shower.
2. Use cardboard packaged washing leaves instead of washing powder or liquid. No plastic bottles, no gummed up machine AND more space in the cupboard
3. Save any elastic loop used on a price tag (usually clothes or shoes). Never buy another elastic band.
