I'm trying to experiment with various ways to get better QSO intelligibility with FreeDV. At the moment conversations fade in and out even when the SNR is strong )+10, +15, etc.)
One idea was that my CPU is underpowered for running FreeDV, and so the decoding suffers. TO check this, I want to run the Linux "nice" command to raise the FreeeDV process priority. But I can't seem to find the actual name of the process FreeDV uses. I can run htop and see a process called " /tmp/.mount FreeDV00AciA/usr/bin/freedv". However, when entering that (or reasonable parts of it like /usr/bin/freedv) the nice command doesn't find the file or process.
What process name can I use (ideally a persistent pro ess name that will be the same during each instantiation)?
