700D echo test build

Hi all,

I put up an additional test build at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4ijho5qiee28cc4/AABY4DhtP86SUvon0AOBKR5va?dl=0 in the hope that it'll fix the echo issue some have been having. Basically, there's some code that allows for frequency shifting; one of the inputs was being shared for all of the modes that probably shouldn't have been (and which is now split out for each mode). Let me know if that works any better for you guys.

Hi all,

Turns out that didn't actually fix the issue. I produced another build over at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8r7doo8xfi3dx79/AAAe8lXuUNVbag0rvKLl9IiMa?dl=0 which I think should fix it this time (Speex wasn't getting reset to the correct sample rate on switching TX modes in the last one I sent). Let me know whether that works better for you guys.

hi MOONEER, the last modification worked perfect, the echo disappeared, just as I made you hear it in the live recordings with SDR at more than 1000 km  in 40 meters .. CONGRATULATIONS !!! thank you for your infinite patience and excellent work ... 73

Mooneer,

One minor bug, not important now but you may want to look at this for the final stable release.  If the program is opened and started without the radio powered on, the program cannot be closed normally. 

eventually it should be possible to have the program automatically power on the radio like WSIT-X does.

Hi Bob,

Can you explain exactly what you're doing to duplicate the issue? In particular, how are you trying to close FreeDV--pushing the X at the upper left of the window or via File->Quit?

Changes:

1. Fixed 1600 text decoding.

2. Fixed crashes around PSK Reporter functionality.

3. Fixed crashes around 2020 mode decoding.

It seems that I simply did not wait long enough for the error to resolve.  I am running this on an older PC.   

Here is the sequence:

Start FreeDV  (radio not powered on)

Click Start

Click Stop (no response)

Click the X close box (wait: Get First Error popup - FreeDV is not responding)

Wait and eventually get Second error popup (Hamlib PTT error: Communications timed out)

Click OK Box

FreeDV will then close normally.

AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 620 Processor   2.60 GHz

8GB RAM

Windows 10 Home  64 bit

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the info. I forgot to mention that I also did some cleanup of the Stop workflow (mainly to ensure that Hamlib is fully shut down and to remove the error popups when clicking Stop) for the latest build I sent last night; that might help with this particular issue. Let me know if that ends up being the case.

why is it that the waterfall calibration are at the bottom of the screen when the waterfall starts at the top and you have to wait 25 seconds to see if you right or not.

can it be at the top, it was ok when the waterfall went up the screen.

Hi Keith,

I was able to move the waterfall text/ticks from the bottom to the top of the window with no issue but I'd like to merge the current pull request before integrating it in the tree to keep the UI based issues from cluttering up the one in progress. https://github.com/tmiw/freedv-gui/tree/ui-enhancement has that change, however, if you'd like to build and test.
