IC-7300 - FreeDV Error: "Could not initiate Audio Client"

My Elecraft K4D is going back to the vendor for repair so I am now trying to use my IC-7300. I see the Silicon Labs USB device which I know is working as I can key the radio using the "Test PTT" button in the CAT and PTT setup tab. I have the "output from computer to radio" set to "Speakers - USB Audio Codec" and the "Input to computer from radio" set to "Microphone - USB Audio Codec". I get the following error message when I start FreeDV:

 

I updated the IC-7300 firmware to 1.4.2 which did not solve the problem. I then reinstalled FreeDV 2.1.0 which did not solve the problem. I am running Windows 11.

Any ideas as to what is wrong? It could be as simple as changing a setting in the IC-7300.

I'm not familiar with the IC-7300, so this is just a guess. It this has bit me before with different USB audio devices. Try selecting "output from computer to radio" to "Microphone - USB Audio Codec" and "input to computer from radio to "Speakers - USB Audio Codec". Sometimes the labeling can be confusing. This assumes the Microphone - USB Audio Codec is the USB audio on the IC-7300.

As a start,

1. Make sure the audio bit rates are all the same for rx and tx in freedv.

2 yes usb audio codec... is correct. 

Win 11 allows you to rename them. If you do, then you have to reselect in freedv.

I do have a 7300 win11. Works fine.

One suggestion, after you get everything else working, narrow the transmit audio for USB-D as much as possible. 

Menu, Set, Tone Control/TBW, TX, SSB-D, TBW (NAR).  Set to 500 - 2500.  

This will reduce the shoulders on your signal.  Not completely, but this is a narrow as the 7300 can be set.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!

Dayne, K8CHY, said that he had experienced this problem with his IC7300 and it was not radio related. Instead, it was related to the USB sound device he was using for his mic. I was using a USB sound device into which I was plugging my wired headset. It worked fine when using the Elecraft K4D, however, it apparently does not work with the IC7300. When I removed it and substituted the USB dongle for my wireless headset, everything worked perfectly. I have not figured out why though.

To everyone who replied with suggestions, thanks! Hopefully, this thread will help other IC7300 users.
