Hello.

I haven't had any issues with previous versions of FREEDV, but when I install the new version, when I click STAR, I get this message:

COULD NOT INITIALIZE AUDIOCLIENT (HR= -2147024809)

Debugging:

ERROR /home/mooneer/freedv-gui/src/main.cpp:2867: Could not initialize AudioClient (hr = -2147024809)

I've changed the settings, but the error persists in any mode. Even if I only set it to RX.

Any solution?

Best regards and thanks.

Hi Antonio,

Can you send screenshots of both tabs of the Tools->Audio Config window so we can get a better idea of the devices that you're trying to use? Additionally, it sounds like it may be a microphone permissions issue or potentially something with your antivirus software (at least according to this page that I found while searching for that error code: https://www.neurobs.com/menu_support/menu_forums/view_thread?id=11687); it may be worth attempting to temporarily disable your antivirus software and/or grant desktop apps permission for the microphone (following instructions at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/turn-on-app-permissions-for-your-microphone-in-windows-94991183-f69d-b4cf-4679-c98ca45f577a).

Thanks,

Hi Mooner.

I've disabled W11's own antivirus and the firewall. The apps all have permission to access audio devices, but all have audio enhancements disabled.
The result is the same.
I didn't have this problem with version 1.9.9.2.

I'M ATTACHING THE SCREENSHOTS OF VERSION 2 AND VERSION 1.9.92.

Hi Antonio,

Can you provide more information about the devices you're trying to use (i.e. model numbers/USB device IDs)?

Thanks,

-Mooneer K6AQ

Hi Mooner.

The device I'm using is an ICOM IC-705, with the latest ICOM drivers v1.60.

The audio input and output correspond to those selected:

RX: USB Audio CODEC Microphone

Device Description = Audio End
Hardware Id = MMDEVAPI\AudioEndpoints
Compatible ID's = GenericAudioEndpoint; SWD\GenericRaw; SWD\Generic
Class = AudioEndpoint
Class GUID = {c166523c-fe0c-4a94-a586-f1a80cfbbf3e}
Driver = {c166523c-fe0c-4a94-a586-f1a80cfbbf3e}\0008
Manufacturer = Microsoft
Friendly Name = Microphone (USB Audio CODEC)
Physical Device Location = \Device\000000d8
Capabilities = 00D0
BusTypeGUID(R) = {06d10322-7de0-4cef-8e25-197d0e7442e2}
LegacyBusType(R) = 000F
Enumerator Name (R) = SWD
Removal Policy (R) = 0003
Hardware Removal Policy (R) = 0003
Base Container Id = {c91957d0-0f9d-11f0-a483-3c0af3656786}

TX: USB Audio CODEC Speaker

Device Description = Audio End
Hardware Id = MMDEVAPI\AudioEndpoints
Compatible ID's = GenericAudioEndpoint; SWD\GenericRaw; SWD\Generic
Class = AudioEndpoint
Class GUID = {c166523c-fe0c-4a94-a586-f1a80cfbbf3e}
Driver = {c166523c-fe0c-4a94-a586-f1a80cfbbf3e}\0009
Manufacturer = Microsoft
Friendly Name = Speakers (USB Audio CODEC)
Physical Device Location = \Device\000000d9
Capabilities = 00D0
BusTypeGUID(R) = {06d10322-7de0-4cef-8e25-197d0e7442e2}
LegacyBusType(R) = 000F
Enumerator Name (R) = SWD
Removal Policy (R) = 0003
Hardware Removal Policy (R) = 0003
Base Container Id = {c91957d0-0f9d-11f0-a483-3c0af3656786}

----------------------------------------

The IDs are as shown in the screenshot (they appear different in v2.1.2 and v1.9.9.2).

It doesn't matter which device you use; even selecting only RX (Stereo Mix/Realtek Speakers) returns the same error.

All software that uses these devices works correctly, and as I mentioned, version 1.9.9.2 works correctly.

I think FREEDV isn't identifying the devices correctly.

I have uninstalled the ICOM devices, the Webcam, I have only left the devices included in the motherboard "stereo mix and speaker" with the same error.

Regards.

Hi Antonio,

Interesting, I have a IC-705 as well and haven't noticed any issues with 2.0.0 on my own Windows machine. I'll email off-list with some stuff to help further diagnose the problem.

Thanks,

-Mooneer K6AQ
