The only Linux  systems on my network are a Rpi3 and Rpi3B. I would like to run the Flex waveform and thought that I would try the latest Ubuntu Linux build (FreeDV-FlexRadio-2.2.0-dev-4c69-x86_64.AppImage) under WSL Ubuntu-24.04.

This starts fine, finds my Flex and adds FDVU + FDVL. But I am not getting any decodes nor am I getting any transmit RF. I guess that something is not communicating correctly. Am I trying to do the impossible?

Hi Martin,

Maybe it's a Windows Firewall issue? Worth trying to disable it temporarily and see if there's any difference.

Thanks,

Mooneer,

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried turn the firewall off but it didn't help.  I can see all the API information but I have no idea how the Flex actually uses the waveform for TX and RX. Should I be able to see anything by examining network traffic?

Hi Martin,

If working properly, there should be something in the output mentioning "udpport". The number next to that is the UDP port that audio is going in and coming out of; you can use Wireshark or similar to see if anything is making it to your PC at least.

Thanks,

Hi Mooneer,

All is good now. I found the target UDP port in the logs and confirmed with Wireshark that my 6600 was sending lots of data to my Windows PC address. I configured up a Hyper-V virtual switch so that my Ubuntu virtual machine could get its own IP address. Now the UDP data is reaching Ubuntu. I am happy as I have everything running on the one windows computer.

Thanks for your help
