Hey everyone! I am curious to know what gear everyone’s currently using on the air these days!
What radio or transceiver do you have set up right now, and how’s it performing for you? Also if you’ve recently upgraded or have a favorite setup for certain bands, I’d love to hear about it — always great to learn from other operators’ experiences.

iCOM 7300 appears to be the most popular.  A bargain now that the later model 7300 Mk2 is shipping.  If needed, WA2TOP has a detailed document for setting up DV on the 7300.

About any “modern” SSB radio is compatible with FreeDV RADE.

For more $$,  late model Flex radios make a better (perhaps best) choice.

Hello Everyone!

We’re scheduling a dryer vent cleaning and if anyone else is interested, we can get a group discount. Normally, this service costs $350, but if more people sign up, the price drops to $150 per home! Not cleaning your dryer vent increases the risk of fire in your home because lint and dust build up inside the vents, which can become a serious fire hazard.
We’ve used this service before, and they do an excellent job. (he does duct and chimney cleaning if you need that as well)

If you’re interested, please PM me your contact info and address, and I’ll arrange a convenient time. Or feel free to text Dan at 240-202-8145

They are flooding the forums with this specific phishing attack. They work in groups, one posts the starter, another posts an encouraging response, then a handful of messages might get through before you ban them, with someone not involved getting in on it and adding to the conversation. many accounts are there to shill the main account. Before you know it several people have taken the conversion off list and end up losing a lot of money. It's sad really.

Hi Linda,

Several years ago (around 2012 or so)  I started out with an ICOM IC736 + SignaLink USB interface using FDMDV and later FreeDV.

About 4 years ago, I bought an ICOM IC705 and have used it with FreeDV and 4 different computers:

Early 2015 Apple MacBook Pro running MACos 12.x (Monterey)
Mid 2012 Apple MacBook Pro running KDE Neon (Ubuntu based Linux)
Home constructed desktop (Asrock-MB, AMD 3/3+ 6-core CPU ) running OpenSuSE Linux
ACER NV15   Intel Core-i7 running Winblows 11 (and Ubuntu 24.04 linux)

AND finally, all of the above computers with an ICOM  IC-M802 marine radio using a SignaLink USB audio interface

Oh, and finally, I have also connected to the IC705 using the built-in WIFI for wireless connecting  FreeDV and WF View using virtual audio connections.  THis worked usinf the MAC and the Winblows 11 laptops.

Cheers,

Rick
