Hello

I have been working with Digipi for many months now with mixed results. The issue today is the inital connection to a WI Fi network. When I initally bring up DigiPI i set up a SSID name and password and apply this with a reboot. No issue. I have done this eaisly with several home networs from Comcast and atT again this is simple.
I have also connected to my Startlink Mini again "SKS starlink" Password "??" again no issues.

Where things go nuts was connecting to a my wi fi hot spot from my ATT Apple Iphone 16  with SSID Scott and Password "??" once in awhile it could couple but most of this time the connection / write for this SSID fiald. I know because after reboot I still see teh DIGIPI SSID.

Personal Hotspot allow others to join
Password simple like "??"
Maxiize Compatibility "On" I also tried off

My thinking is that the DigiPI / Raspberry PI OS stack my not be a uptodate as teh Iphone needs.
This ONLY occurs with the I phone.and is reproducible with other Iphones from other carriers.

I do have other devices )Laptops) that connect just fine to teh hotspot.

So this is a word of caution and again I could be and often am wrong.

Hi Scott,

A zero2W only has 2.4Ghz wifi - 5G wont work.  Is apple requiring 5G?

Otherwise, I don't have a clue, nor apple hotspot to mess with.

curiously,

While and iPhone 16 support multiple frequencies :

"All iPhone 16 models (including Plus, Pro, and Pro Max) feature advanced Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) with 2x2 MIMO. This provides significantly faster speeds, lower latency, and better reliability by utilizing 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands simultaneously."

The Raspberry PI WI FI stack may not be of the same vintage as the iPhone. (The Pi I am sure is not at the same pace as the iPhone.)  Note the term simultaneously in the above AI blurb. The Pi Zero 2W will work with teh I Phone 16 but it may take many (oh boy) many tries to connect properly.  Since the R pi Zero 2W supports 2.4GHz IEEE 802.11b/g/n wireless LAN so that I think is a part of the issue.

I am a retired AT&T engineer and I have seen things like this before.

I just posted as I think other might run into this as well.
