Greeting all,
I have the newest version of DigiPi installed and now I cannot get my 7300 to work with  APRS HF. When I go to select APRS HF,  It connects fine on APRS.fi app for IOS, but when it goes to beacon, it gets stuck on TX and then the DigiPi disconnects from the app. Is there anything that I can do?

Jam-on-first-transmit often indicates RF on the USB cable.  Try turning power all the way down
and see if it's still an issue, then you'll know.

Click "PktLog" on the DigiPi home page to see what direwolf thinks of all this.

I haven't tried aprs-hf with the ios app, but it's working here with aprsdroid.

"Gnarly" (left coast spelling)

So, I suspect you know you need a different USB cable, ferrite choke, or both.

We could use more VHF digi's in VA.   There's a DigiPi in Appomattox, probably out of range for Charles City.

lol Siri misunderstood me haha!! I turned the power down to 50% and that works like a charm:). I am going to put a DigiPi in my ham radio trailer soon. I live in Mathews Virginia and currently working on getting comms set up in Charles city Va:) with a DigiPi:)

Maybe it goes without saying, but digital modes shouldn't be at 100% power.  Non-voice
modes typically have an intense duty cycle which heat up radios quickly.  The QRP
rigs can run at full power, but your amp'd up 100watt rig will get hot at 100%.

I'm curious what power levels you guys use for your 100watt rigs?

winlink  60%
aprs-hf  30%
ft8  28%
bpsk31  50%

I just kinda made those levels up.  They get through, while minimizing power.

Sorry for the long delay Craig,
On my 7300 for digital modes, I run 40-50% maximum. For some reason, my radio reverted back to 100%. I adjusted the power back down to 40% and all is well for now. I did FT8 last night on 25% and received
AO275BFM at -3 and he had me at -20.

On my IC-7300 I run at 50%/50 watts for all the digital modes.  I’ve never had an issue with overheating.
