Hi guys.

Has anybody used the DigiPi with a Xiegu G90, did it work and how did you get it to work ???

Hi Jimmi,

I don't have a G90 (yet), but it looks like it supports CAT control if you have the right cable.  I don't
see G90 support in hamlib, however (X108G is listed, you could certainly try that one).

There's also a Din8 jack on the back that has audio in, out, ground and PTT.  The wiring diagrams
at http://craiger.org/digipi would apply to these three pins.

Info: https://radioddity.s3.amazonaws.com/Radioddity%20-%20Xiegu%20G90,%20CAT%20and%20Digital%20modes%20V1.0_20210623.pdf

I know this is a popular radio, I'm interested to see if others have it working as well!

All,

I have successfully used the DigiPi application with a DigiRig interface and my Xiegu G90. I now have the Digipi Hat and am trying to figure out how to connect.

1. Do I use NEWRIGNUMBER=DTR or NEWRIGNUMBER=3088 (HAMLIB radio number for G90)?
2. Do I connect AFO/AFI/Gnd from the G90 ACC connector to the AFO/AFI/Gnd pins on the HAT DB9 connector?
3. Do I connect PTT from the G90 ACC connector to the PTT pin on the HAT DB9 connector? Or, do I assume that PTT will be handled by CAT configuration on the application used (for example, WSJT-X)?
4. Do I connect the Rx/Tx/Gnd from the G90 data port to the Rx/Tx/Gnd pins on the HAT DB9 connector? Or do I use the TRS > USB-A blue cable that came with the G90 to connect the G90 data port to the RPi directly?

I know I can work my way through the options to see what works and what doesn't, but if someone has already been through the process, it would save a lot of time.

TIA, Tom VE3NY

Hi Tom,

If using a radio that already has USB for audio and cat control, the digipi hat is kind
of redundant.  It's more for dual-band rigs that have audio in/out, ground, ptt.

for the G90, ideally, you use the rig number and connect digipi directly to the
radio using a USB cable.

It doesn't mean you can't still use the digipi hat, just not for ptt/audio.  In this
case, I would leave off the short/white USB cable from the device.  The screen
should still work as it uses the gpio pins.

Alternatively if you must us the digipi hat for audio/ptt, you'll need to identify
those pins/wires/signals on the g90 and connect them to the DB9, and use
"DTR" as your rig number, device file ttyUSB0.

if it helps,
-craig
