Howdy, All,

Trying to get a setup going of Digipi and realize that it's not all "plug & play" as it seems. I am using an IC-705 and have no real idea how to set up the 705 for using the Digipi.

Searching YT doesn't offer much either; most only share the final product of "IT" working.

Are there any settings that need to be configured in the config files? Other than the "initialize", what else needs to be set up? I have tried AX.25, nothing, PAT, nothing, and a few other modes, but nothing works per se. What am I missing?

Hi Don,

I went into the Direwold files and made some adjustments, but finding other files and paths, as listed on the Groups IO page, well, I'm not a Linux guy, not any OS guy as a matter of fact. So, I found a thread and got to a point where it still doesn't work. I'm not sure why hams don't include their failures as well as their successes and their path to the least resistance.

It makes it harder for the next guy trying to get $%^& working. Being a NON-Computer programmer doesn't help either. Hi Hi.

When you booted the first time to the digipi home page, did you click the initialize link?

Hi Jason,

First, you shouldn't have to edit any files, that's kind of the point of DigiPi, tho, I
fully encourage hacking!

The important thing is that when you "Initialize" you select "USB Connected Radio" as
your Radio Interface, the default parameters are for the ic705 (rig 3085) as luck would have it.

Also confirm your rig is seen at the top of the "SysInfo" link on the DigiPi home page.
it should display ttyACM0 and ttyACM1.   do not re-plug your USB cable.

... and let us know,

OK, so I reflashed the SD card and started again from scratch, per se. The pi sees the 705, as listed below.

When I turn on the Digipeater button, I should see some traffic on the DP screen. But, alas, nothing when tuned to 144.390.

Next, when I try AX.25, the information I captured on the screen is listed:

And for the Webchat, as you have displayed on the website, I don't get anything either.

direwolf isn't starting.

Please click "PktLog" then turn on "APRS TNC/igate" and show us what you
see in the PktLog.

Yup, USB failure.  Different cable?  Choke on USB cable?   Do you have the USBC-upgrade kit on that ic705?

Does it work until first transmit?   try reducing power, and replicate?

also, check settings->connectors->CIV,

CI-V USB Echo Back   (it's OFF for me, but you might toggle it)

Hi Craig,

Chockes on the cable, USB upgrade to the 705, and it's running on battery power, so only 5 watts to begin with.

I went and changed the CI-V to Echo on.

so, to be sure, you *did* do the after-market USBC modification to the ic705?  swapped out the circuit
board on the rig?  there are reports of that being problematic.

Good morning,

Yes, I did the after-market USB-C replacement from I HELP U TECH

Okay, there are reports on this list that the after-market USBC modification somehow prevents
data/packet in some way, I honestly have no other information.   I don't know how hard it is
to reverse, but it'd be a valuable experiment.  I'd like to know since I'm thinking about doing
the upgrade on my ic705.

Craig,

A quick question on Linpaq.

How do you adjust the screen so you can see what was at the top? I have stuff scrolling past the point I can see, and can't figure out how to adjust it or scroll to see the top?

Hi Jason, try the PageUp/PageDown buttons to see scrollback on linpac.  It really lends
itself to a pc/mac browser, but you can also get "hacker keyboard" for android to get those
buttons.

I'm also looking at paracon in addition to linpac, similar, but different.

Craig,

That worked FB. I'm using a Mac, extended keyboard so no worries there.

Tnx, Jason, WV3V

Craig, another question in Linpaq,

When I try the info command, it gives me some gibberish that isn't my info. Is this the default info, or do I need to set it? Is it not working correctly? Here is a screenshot of it.

Hi Jason,  I don't fully understand the context, and I probably need the value of "gibberish" to be sure, but
the Node BBS info command text is in

/etc/ax25/uronode.info

if that helps,

Hi Craig,

Yes, I didn't point out the specific info, but at the top of the screen, when I try to get "info," it gives the info as listed, "BRNO, JN89HF...", but that's not my info for WV3V-4, DM26JG...I looked in the uronode.info and there isn't anything that looks like that info to change. Is this pulled from QRZ. or another database of some sort?

Jason.

That jibberish is found in .config/LinPac/station.data if it helps.  Press [save configuration] on the
DigiPi home page if you modify that file.
