My name is Terry "WD3NA" I live in Plainview, Texas.  I'm setting up a DigiPi in my shack and I'm having issues with the bluetooth not working.  I have made the setting changes recommended on the DigiPi.org website and the bluetooth is not working.  I'm using the Pi zero 2 as Craig recommends along with a DigiRig interface and a Yeasu FT-8800.  I can recieve data packets but I can't transmit.

I'm not able to see the bluetooth on the Pi when I scan.

Thanks for any and all help.

Hi Terry,

bluetooth really is the devil's work.  We need to know what kind of device you're pairing
with and what app you're using.  (android with aprsdroid?).    iphone?

thanks,

Craig I found a video produced by you several years ago that talked me through bluetooth pairing process.  It worked great.

Digipi is up and running.

Thanks

I had a similar issue, but I followed the procedures (I think) and still having issues.

1) Ran through the Bluetooth pairing process from the website and confirmed that my android phone (pixel 6) was paired and trusted.
2) Tried running APRS droid with TNC(kiss) BT SPP | channel 1 | digipi selected device
3) when I click "start tracking" blue tooth icon on digipi screen flashes briefly:  APRS Droid shows connecting to the BT address of the digipi and indicates "Could not connect to digipi! Please turn on the device and close other Bluetooth connections"  [no other BT connections are active on the phone].
4) here's the verbage from bluetoothctl during the aprsdroid connection (device BT address removed:

hci0 [-BT Address redacted-] type BR/EDR disconnected with reason 0
[CHG]  Device [-BT Address redacted-]  :EC Connected: no
hci0  [-BT Address redacted-]   type BR/EDR connected eir_len 14
[CHG]  Device [-BT Address redacted-]  :EC Connected: yes
hci0  [-BT Address redacted-]   type BR/EDR disconnected with reason 2
[CHG] Device  [-BT Address redacted-]   Connected: no

Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi AP,

try to "forget" the digipi bluetooth device on your phone

also try "discoverable on" and then initiate pairing from your phone, don't
forget to run the trust command after pairing.

channel 1 is correct, but try "no channel" or 0 too.

move to another room and try

and yah, bluetooth is sketchy with all devices imho.

It would seem that reversing the pairing process and making the pi discoverable while initiating pairing from the android did the trick.
Craig, thank you for the suggestion.
