Everyone,
I felt it important to raise a question about the source of the words and impressions shared in videos from scientists that are now appearing on youtube. As shared earlier, I found one that really impressed me, involving Richard Feynman, for example. In looking at its details, it was clear that it was really a physics series presented in the remarkable style of Richard Feynman, who was good at explaining things if you had sufficient background. There is an entire collection of these now from a single source, all done recently, even as Dr. Feynman has been dead since the 1980's. And they seem to be multiplying with new ones coming out each day.
There are other Feynman videos that imply the views expressed are his, including one that came out a few days ago saying there are no particles, you are not a thing etc. I really question whether he ever said that, based on several videos I watched of his talks and conversations.
The same may apply to the Penrose videos of late (The Penrose Way). In looking at its details, it follows a similar pattern of multiplying videos that has no direct connection to Penrose per se. I looked at some other videos of him speaking directly, even recent ones (he's now 90 I believe), and he gives the definite impression that he is a physicalist (everything emerges from physical matter). So I can't say anything certain as to whether he said the words, but the circumstances lead me to question whether this is true.
To me, this does not take away from the video content itself, it seems to resonate in many ways. But there may be a misleading impression created that these Nobel scientists fully shared these views. Again, it feels worth at least raising the question. I think it is unfortunate if these concerns are true, since it only detracts from what the videos might be trying to say.
