Well said Jason,
Thank You Doug
Watts was a real life saver for me 2010 and earlier I have paperbacks, and audiobooks
One in particular an Autobiography Entitled "In My Own Way!" sat on my bookshelf for years since the late 1970s.
Not long ago I noticed it picked it up and the title just penetrated my thinking scanner and landed as 'I AM, in my OWN way" and "I am in my own way!"
"I" is in the way, in the way, an obstacle to being fully human ... a being ...
I am posting this now, I mentioned this insight somewhere before here on Diehards... I am ending here to go and find it ....
But thank you both Doug and Jason

And how it is all a series of nested strange loops (feedback) not quite a "Hall of mirrors" but you get the drift.
Hofstadter does something miraculous in the book he writes about a conversation to illustrate how a fugue works and how "self-referential" language and languaging becomes both circular and self reinforcing and transformational and to me transcendental.
But that's my bias my own for of biting my own tail "t-RAN-scen-DENTAL .... PUN-is-H-meat! ...

By exploring common themes in the lives and works of logician Kurt Gödel, artist M. C. Escher, and composer Johann Sebastian Bach, the book expounds concepts fundamental to mathematics, symmetry, and intelligence. Through short stories, illustrations, and analysis, the book discusses how systems can acquire meaningful context despite being made of "meaningless" elements. It also discusses self-reference and formal rules, isomorphism, what it means to communicate, how knowledge can be represented and stored, the methods and limitations of symbolic representation, and even the fundamental notion of "meaning" itself.
