Twins have five hits, one walk and six runs on only a double as an extra base hit? How can that be?

All the hits and walk were in the same inning, plus a HBP, a wild pitch and a productive groundout.

In the first I think a runner reached on a fielder's choice when there was no out recorded so that would be another baserunner.

Weird first inning from Valdez.  He occasionally can have bad innings like that. That’s the risk of being an extreme groundball pitcher.  Sometimes the grounders find the holes and get through..  He was a bit wild in the first inning as well with a HBP and a wild pitch, so that didn’t help him.
He didn’t give up any flyballs last night and settled down after the first and looked more like the normal Valdez.
