Top SS prospect Bryce Rainer hit a 477-foot homer tonight for Lakeland in their 2-1 win vs. Daytona Beach. In the 4th inning he hit a 97-mph first pitch sinker to the moon.
Rainer has had a slow start to the season but this was a monster blast.
Last year's 2nd-round pick, righty Micah Witherspoon, had his 2nd straight good start for Lakeland, allowing 1 run on 1 hit with 4 Ks in 4 IP.
Erie lost 11-6 to Chesapeake. SS John Peck was 0-5 with 3 Ks, lowering his average to .182. ;-)
Erie starter, knuckleballer Kenny Serwa, was roughed up for 6 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings. Serwa got bombed in his previous start. I guess we won't be seeing his knuckleball in Detroit anytime soon.
