The heat index in New York for this afternoon's game is going to be 105 or higher.  That's brutal.
Troy Melton might literally melt on the mound.  Maybe they should do a bullpen game instead.

It's a getaway day for the Tigers so they probably don't want to move the game to a night game, but maybe they should.

I'm a little surprised it's a day game at all, as I feel NYY has fewer afternoon matinees over the course of the season relative to other teams - and NYY has an off day tomorrow before they start another home series.

Oh well. It's July. It gets hot. And the Yankees pitchers have to deal with the heat too.

Could go either way today.  The ball could be flying out of the park in the superheated air and pitchers could be more mistake-prone due to fatigue but hitters could be feeling the heat too and are sluggish.

Got a feeling it could be a high-scoring shootout.

Indeed. I just returned last night from 2 weeks cycling in Spain, France, and Andorra. We had a week of over 100F. Hottest i saw on my bike computer was 115F (heat radiating off the pavement).

Wore my Tiger cap in Girona, Argeles-Gazost and Andorra la Vella. Many of the tourists had NYY caps on and I bet 100% of them wore it for "fashion", not allegiance.

Wow, that’s some intense heat to cycle in, Rob.   Just crazy high temps for Europe.
Sounds like a cool bike trip, though.

We had to do shorter days, start early, linger at the mountain tops where it was 10-15F cooler, and spend the afternoons at cafes. A hard life to be sure.

It was record heat, but the kicker for me is that on some of those days the air contained sand dust from the Sahara (source of the heat) and I had one bad day with asthma issues.

I have an understanding of what Glenn faces in trying to follow the games with the time zones working against me.

Nice job, Rob!

As for following games, I remember the Tigers being on the west coast when I was in Europe and when I'd get up and check the score the game would be almost done or just finished. Trippy, to be sure.
