In what's probably a harbinger of things to come with so many pitchers hurt, the Tigers trail 5-2 in the 8th inning of another bullpen game.

Vanasco and DeJesus were awful in the 7th, giving up all five Boston runs. Can't really blame Hinch; he needed someone to get it to the 8th when presumably Jansen and Finnegan would get called on, but it didn't work out.

Tigers got some help from some sloppy Sox defense in the 6th, scoring two runs without the aid of a hit.

Bright spot: Ty Madden was very good - five innings of shutout ball as the long man.

Now the game is in a rain delay. I blame the game start time change, as if it had been left at 3:40 this delay would have likely happened after the Tigers grabbed their brief 2-0 lead in the 6th. :)

Peyton Tolle is a talented lefty pitching prospect.   He's got very good stuff including a power fastball.  He's already on the mustache all-star team as well.

Madden was great.  I didn't think he had that in him.   He was basically the starter tonight and did his best Skubal impression.

Sounds like it would have been a Skubal-Tolle duel anyway until the 7th when the bullpen came in.  The bullpen had blown a couple of games for Skubal earlier anyway  (or he got tired in the 7th and blew the lead) so tonight's game has kind of fit the script.

I wasn't that impressed with Vanasco last night.  Poor command.  I just don't think his fastball command is good enough.  The Sox were teeing off on his fastball tonight.
