I had forgotten about this guy until I read this morning that he was signed as a FA by the Giants.

We acquired Leonard at the 2023 deadline from LA in exchange for cash considerations. Leonard put up good numbers in a tour of our minor league affiliates for the next year and change. He continued to produce offensively in the Atlanta and Milwaukee farm systems after we released him in 2024.

If I'm remembering correctly, Leonard is a poor defender and it was thought he'd need to be a DH to make a ML club. If so, it makes some sense why he hasn't gotten a chance on a ML roster despite hitting well in the minors.

I thought Leonard might have been able to eventually take over McKinstry's utility role.  The Tigers tried Leonard at multiple positions in the minors, but he was so bad defensively anywhere he played they gave up on him.

He has 12 homers with a .873 OPS for Nashville in AAA this year at age 25.
He hit 20 homers with a .739 OPS for Gwinett in AAA last year.

He's been playing multiple positions in the infield and outfield this season.
