Looks like Meadows is going on the IL and Wenceel Perez will be called up.  I assume that means Baez will be starting in CF.

Apparently Meadows not only has a concussion, but a broken arm!

Parker gets no luck with injuries.  The Meadows' brothers curse.

I’m kind of hoping Clark gets called up but probably will be Pérez.

I will admit to not following too closely, but is Max Clark even on the 40 man roster? If he is not, then who gets DFA'd to make room?

Perez has been called up to replace Meadows on the roster.

That was predictable.  Perez got scratched from Toledo's lineup yesterday so that was the giveaway he was getting the call.
I guess this means a lot of Baez and some Vierling in CF.  You don't really want Perez in CF.

Perez should be an offensive upgrade over Meadows, and he's a switch-hitter so he provides some matchup versatility.

Feel bad for Meadows getting injured yet again.  Unfortunately, he's not really a major league hitter.  His swing just doesn't produce enough power and he tops the ball into the ground a lot.
I guess his 2024 second-half performance was a fluke.

Correct, it was highly unlikely Clark would get the call-up at this point anyway, and given they'd have to DFA somebody to make room for him on the 40-man it was even less likely.
I don't think they're ready to DFA Jahmai Jones just yet.

Speaking of Baez, looks like we’re getting first half 2025 Javy so far this season as opposed to the lack of hitting we saw at the back half of the season last year.

Javy has a solo HR tonight to put the Tigers up 2-0 in the 5th.  He is hitting .333 with a .876 OPS.

The good Keider Montero showed up tonight and shut the Marlins down. Thankfully, while Paddack has been good he hasn't quite matched Montero.

Hurter on to pitch the 7th - and he got through it quickly with no damage. 2-0 Tigers.

Great job from Montero and the bullpen.  Still frustrating to only score 2 against Paddack, who was a gascan for the Tigers last year and had a 10+ ERA going into tonight's game.

By the way, I noticed the Twins gave up 10 runs tonight to the Jays.  Jays having no trouble hitting the Twins.

The scariest collision I ever saw in person was the Akil Baddoo-Derek Hill collision in Baltimore in 2021. Hill held on to the ball. Both men had to leave the game. See for yourself:
