I'd be surprised if Rogers has much of a future with the Tigers. Dingler seems established (for now) as the starter. The Tigers are deep in catching prospects. Of course, if you're an old enough Tiger fan you can recall a time when the Tigers thought they were flush with catching talent and traded Chris Hoiles (23.8 career WAR) for Fred Lynn as Lynn declined. So, well Dingler looks solid to me, who to use to back him up doesn't seem to be an easy choice.
I did wonder about the Tigers sticking with Rogers given how well Nido performed in place of Rogers when Rogers was on the IL, but I realize that Nido's hitting when he with the Tigers was completely out of character for him. I also have no idea if the Tigers had the ability to send Rogers down or would have had to DFA him.
For whatever reason, projecting hitting for catchers seems to be particularly iffy.
