Joey Wentz got signed by Atlanta. Proving yet again that if you can pitch or bat lefthanded, you've got a long future ahead of you in this game even when you don't deserve it.

And Zach Short somehow snuck onto the roster of the Houston Astros while we weren't looking. He got the game-winning base hit in one of Houston's wins this weekend. The Astros are now 2.5 games behind Detroit for home-field advantage throughout the AL playoffs.

As bad as Zack Short is, he’s better than Ryan Kreidler, whom the Tigers keep giving chances.  At least Short can launch into one occasionally and draw some walks.

Wentz coming full circle back to his original organization.  He was regarded as a pretty good prospect in the Atlanta system and he looked promising for a while with the Tigers but he’s never really recovered from his Tommy John surgery.  Not all pitchers come back successfully from TJS.
