The most natural trade right now would be Justin-Henry Malloy for a reliever.  I'd hate to see him go, but if the Tigers don't have room for him on the roster even while two outfielders are hitting under .200, and Carpenter is on the IL, he's got no future here.  I'm sure another team will be interested in a guy whose AAA OPS the last three years are .892, .860 and .927.

The other obvious potential trade is Hao-Yu Lee.  He's blocking Max Anderson, and would be hard to move to another position while maintaining any value.   Lee is only 22, so has some trade value.  I'm not sure you could get a decent middle reliever who is under team control straight-up for Lee, but you could definitely get a rental (soon-to-be free-agent), or a salary-dump older guy.

The two together would make a decent package to get a reputable player with some issue - i.e. too expensive, too little control left, or only average.

Max Anderson could be trade-bait too, for the same reason.  He's blocked and young enough to be attractive.  With Gleyber Torres not under contract for next year, I'd rather keep Anderson.  But you have to give up something to get something.

I think packaging Malloy with Anderson should get you a competent player without any baggage.

What I'd really like to see is a blockbuster deal for a top flight centerfielder.  That could include Max Clark.  Could we package Clark, Anderson and Malloy for a Corbin Carroll or Jackson Merrill?  The Padres probably aren't selling.  The Diamondbacks might be.

Bednar, Helsley and Bautista are closers rumored to be on the block.  Not sure we can get one of them for Lee or Anderson.  Might have to include Melton, Montero and somebody in A-ball like Montilla and one of the top kids in the FCL or DSL. The Pirates, Cardinals or O’s might ask for one of the Big 3.  I don’t think we should trade any of the Big 3 for a reliever.

The A’s flamethrowing young closer Mason Miller might be available but he will cost more.

I think the Tigers might be an able to get a couple of the setup guys on the block for less. I like a couple of the Rockies, Marlins Braves, and Rangers relievers.

Malloy and Montero to the Rockies for Jake Bird.  Malloy could thrive playing at Coors.

Nats’ closer Kyle Finnegan is probably also on the block.

I’d also make an offer to the Rays for Pete Fairbanks but they might not be sellers.
