Had an injury that limited his playing time this season but the tools and numbers when healthy are definitely first round level. Theoretically could be in the picture for a call up in ‘28; I assume a current lack of a consistent third pitch is something he’ll need time to work on in the minors.

From what I’ve read he’s a guy that came into this year highly ranked but missed a lot of time this season due to an injury, presumably why he’s still available late in the first round. Seems like an uncharacteristic move for a front office that has generally been risk-adverse. At least it wasn’t an arm injury (rib stress fracture).
