Blue Jays blanked Tigers on Sunday

On Sunday, the Blue Jays shut out the Tigers, 5-0, in Dunedin.
Addison Barger led off the bottom of the second inning with a home run.
In the bottom of the third, George Springer walked, Nathan Lukes walked, Daulton Varsho was hit by a pitch, Addison Barger singled to drive in Mr. Springer and Mr. Lukes, and Tyler Heineman singled to drive in Mr. Varsho.
In the bottom of the fourth, Jonathan Clase walked, went to second base on a wild pitch, and scored on a double by Josh Kasevich.
30-year-old lefthander Bryan Sammons gave up four runs on two hits, two walks, and a hit batsman. He struck out one in 2 2/3 innings.
24-year-old lefty Johan Simon gave up two hits, allowing three inherited runners to score. He was credited with the final out of the third inning.
26-year-old Tyler Mattison gave up a run on one hit and two walks. He only got one out.
Sean Guesther got the last two outs of the fourth, plus all three outs in the fifth. He allowed no runs, no hits, and no walks.
Konnor Pilkington gave up one it but no walks and no runs in the sixth. He struck out one.
Cold Waites gave up on hit and one walk, but no runs, as he pitched the seventh. He struck out one.
In the eighth, Marco Jimenez struck out the side.
This afternoon, the Tigers are hosting the Rays in Lakeland. Shane McClanahan will start for the Rays, while Framber Valdez will start for the Tigers.

I watched this game at a pub with a Jays fan friend. Not much to cheer about obviously but Guenther looked good in his outing. He hasn’t given up a run in 4 innings of work. Would think he has a chance to make the pen this year.
