Of course it’s the 40th anniversary of the Tigers 1984 World Series championship as we all know. Just happened to see a clip of the San Diego Padres clinching a playoff spot last night (on a triple play to end the game!). Is this the first time the 2 teams that played in that World Series are potentially going to be in the postseason at the same time since 1984? 

Shall we have a 1984 rematch? 😎

The Padres swept their series with Atlanta and move on to play the Dodgers so this rematch possibility is still intact for another round of the playoffs :-)

We could also have an ALCS rematch with KC! That would be perfect to replicate '84!

KC obviously can advance to the ALCS tonight with a win over the Yankees.  

And the Padres can do the same in the NLCS with a win over the Dodgers tonight. 

It’s all lining up 😆

Not quite.... It's only Game 3 between KC and NY. Currently 1 a piece.

Well, so much for all of this. I did indeed get ahead of myself on KC the other day. They’re out as we know.

And now tonight, the Padres lose the series to the Dodgers so there will be no 1984 rematch even if the Tigers win tomorrow night. 

MLB and national TV executives must be ecstatic though. They’ve got New York – Los Angeles in the NLCS. And the Yankees in the ALCS.
