This post on facebook came from an account called Spencer Torkelson.  A few people suggested it could be fake, but there doesn’t seem to be much motive for someone to fake this, and the account does have 7k followers.

Dear Tigers Fans,

I want to take a moment to reach out to each and every one of you. As a proud member of the Detroit Tigers, I feel the weight of our recent losses deeply, just as you do. I know how much this team means to you, how you wear your loyalty like a badge of honor, and how you show up day after day, cheering us on through thick and thin.

It’s hard to express how much I wish we could give you the victories you deserve. Each strikeout, each close game, and each missed opportunity hangs heavy on our hearts. We know the passion, the dedication, and the dreams you invest in us every season. We are working tirelessly to turn things around, to bring that excitement back to Comerica Park, and to make you proud to wear that Old English D.

Thank you for your unwavering support and for standing by us even in the toughest times. Your love for this team fuels our fire, and I promise we will give everything we have to make it right. Together, we will rise again, and I can’t wait to celebrate those hard-fought wins with you.

With all my heart,

Spencer Torkelson

The page says it was created in 2012, when Tork would've been 13. It doesn't seem to be selling merch or sharing those AI-generated feel-good stories, so it could be legit. I imagine he could have a social media manager who cleaned out all of his teenage and college posts before making it public.

There is a verified Spencer Torkelson Instagram account. It seems like someone his age would be more active there than on Facebook, but the FB account has more posts.

The post you’re referencing is from Sept. 21, 2025. The profile’s “about” info says it was created in September 2012. So, yes, why would anyone be spoofing a middle school student? That makes it seem like this is Tork’s account that he started as a kid and has converted to professional use.

The one I'm looking at says created September 21 at 4:38pm.  (2012 doesn't really make much sense; nobody would have bothered spoofing Tork in 2012, and the context wouldn't make any sense.)

The account it comes from seems legit.  The posts are either about the Torkleson Foundation or are his baseball highlights.  There is at least one video from an on-field perspective that would have been made by a Tiger.  And most spoof accounts don't get thousands of followers.
