BREAKING NEWS: Something is going on with our Big Y results!!!!!!!

Hi all,

Just took a look at our Big Y Block Tree, and we have been split. Daniel
and Roger are still listed as our old terminal SNP BY42599. Ron Durrett
and Geoff have been listed as having two private SNPs of R-FT46802
(terminal) and FT45835. Ron has been relisted with R-FT46802 for his
terminal on the Lewis Surname Project and the Z-209 Project sites. He
has not been reassigned to another category yet. We all still share the
BY42599 SNP, which is the terminal for the rest of us. He does not share
this SNP with Ruggles or Allison (Kalberg). So, this is still within our
group.

I can't explain this, but it is an extremely dramatic development. There
are a lot of possibilities. What it means is we need more Big Y test to
sort this out. This could mean Ron and Geoff could have split before
Edmund, or whomever BY42599 first belong to, or they share a downstream
lineage from Edmund. I don't know which. These are exciting times.

Please provide your answers to this riddle so I can sleep tonight. 😁

Geoff, are you kit 947718? If so, you are ungrouped in the Z209 project. That kit shares Ron Durrett's terminal SNP, so it has to be you..

I can’t solve the riddle. 

Have you talked to Lucas to see what he thinks. This is a very interesting development though.

 It will be strange if they do reassign Ron to another group or it could put 2 groups together. Any thing is possible at this point. 

I agree we need more Lewis men to join the Big Y project. Or do we now need to start a Big Y Group to see where this goes.

There has been a fair amount of energy and time put into this over the past five or more years (can't remember when it started). So for the first deviation from the shared terminal variant, yeah, it is cool. And being a geek is a beneficial trait in this business.

Hi, Joy. I hope you've had air conditioning the past few days. It looks like it is cooling off a bit. It will be about the same temp here as it is there this next week. And, we are 4,400 feet or more higher than you are.

We are working primarily through the Z209 board, and Lucas is still on the DF27 board. We are still on the DF27 board, but I think the admins there have relinquished responsibility for the Z209 portion to the newer board's admins. Plus, Geoff is not on the DF27 board. The Z209 board looks a lot different than its corresponding section on the DF27 board, and it is more informative. Lucas was a good guy and did us well. But, he had a kid and I think the job got too big to handle, given everything. Plus, we didn't respond too well when he asked us to contribute more Big Y results. I think he was set to use us an example of how Big Y could work. He went quiet on me.

I don't know how good the admins for Z209 are, besides being better than me. They have done a good job of reorganizing the subclade's results and keeping it up to date. It is a lot smaller board than DF27. I've never approached them. They were quick to add Geoff to the site, though they haven't grouped him yet (it's only been one day). The Lewis board still hasn't added him since he first requested after he received his Y-111 results. But, I think the Lewis board is a little more mom & pop.

I believe on the Lewis board the admins have been a bit awol as well so hard to gauge.

Looks like the ownership/management of the Lewis group has changed hands. I've been added to the group finally, along with probably dozens of others who have been waiting as well. Looking forward to the results now that the log jam is over.

It's being rearranged and its a mess at the moment. But, as Geoff said, there are new kits. There is one new kit that matches us that I don't recognize and couldn't figure out. Maybe two. No telling how long it's been backed up.

In other news, we have a new Big Y match. Jackie, our SoCal cousin, matches me on two variants downstream of the N42599 variant we all shared for a long while. Actually, it is her nephew who matches me. I'm still sorting through this as something gave me pause and I started scratching my head. Though head scratching is not uncommon for me, this one may draw blood. Grateful to Jackie for having authorized the test. This could be significant for the southern branch in establishing its link to our northern cousins.
