Hi all.

I stumbled across an episode of NOVA on PBS about the Yamnaya people who brought our y-R1b haplotype to Europe. The episode if titled "The First Horse Warriors." As the title indicates, they focus on the domesticating of the horse and the role of the horse in the Yamnaya's domination of Europe beginning about 5000 years ago from their native home on the Pontic steppes of the Ukraine and Russia. They also talk about the roles of the wheel and wagon and metallurgy. They don't speak about the R1b haplotype, but genetics in general. And they talk about the spread of Indo-European languages throughout Europe and parts of Asia that was a result of the movement of the Yamnaya people. They take a totally different view of the role of disease than what I've presented in the past. Perhaps some have seen this episode. I found it fun. You can watch it on your computer. I hope you enjoy it. Link here:

Dave,
Thx for that PBS referral.  Very interesting!
I have been overloaded by my mothers moved into a condo this past month.  Escrow, purchase, moving, utilities, etc is very time consuming.  I haven't gotten to answer your last email; but still is on my desktop!  I may have to get my DAR friend to interpret it for me, as she is a retired PhD genetics person!  LOL!
Are you still considering the move out of state?
Will etalk with you in a couple of weeks.
PS  my mom is 97 1/2 and hated assisted living!  Yikes!

Congratulations to your mother for her long life and desire for independence. My father made it to 94, and his first cousin on the Lewis side to 104. She took a motorcycle ride on her 100th birthday. I got to meet her in Texas about 10 years before she died. Her extended family was there on a weekend vacation when I was there visiting a Lewis 3rd cousin. She and most of her family are from Oklahoma, where my father was born.

Yes, we are trying to sell our house now. It's taking longer than I would like. Getting ready to sell was very time consuming and a lot of muscle work for an old man who refuses to hire anybody to do the work for him.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Dave
