I have put some notes together to remind me what I do to generate laser
cutter files from my CAD system. Creating cutter files for other import
types is very silmilar.

Thanks Bernard. Interesting. Never noticed the Group/Layer. Remind me to talk to you about in at next meeting.
Also want to discuss this flip business. And the add to visicut extension. Bet you cant wait lol.
I have some cut files on a USB so hoping to cut something out so I know I am doing the right thing.
See you next Wednesday 8th.
Cheers
Gwen

A drawing that appears left to right in visicut will cut right to left on the cutter. It is something we noticed early on and does not matter too much, particularly for symetrical parts. The issue is important if there is engraving as this will come out mirrored. The horizontal flip corrects this and the cut / engrave will come out correctly.

I plan to be down on the 8th. I would like to do a test cut on some ABS plastic. There is mixed info on the suitability for laser cutting as there is some concern about the smoke content. As we are venting outside I want to see if it cuts ok.
