[Debezium Oracle Connector] LogMiner adapter without continuous_mine - 19c+

Hi,

The continuous_mine option for the dbms_logmnr.start_logmnr package is no longer available, it's just desupported in Oracle Database 19c.

Can we still use LogMiner adapter with 19c Oracle database? If so, how Debezium connector handles data changes and processing redo logs without this option?

I'm worried whether in a long run LogMiner adapter will be still a supported option - faq site (https://debezium.io/documentation/faq/#what_databases_can_debezium_monitor) does not mention logminer adapter, highlighting XStream only.

Hi Chris,

The Debezium Oracle connector does not rely on the continuous mining option.  The connector is responsible for detecting log switches and adjusting the logs that are mined automatically, which the continuous mining option did for you automatically.  You should be able to use the connector with Oracle 12 R2, Oracle 19, and Oracle 21 without problems.  We also have users who use the connector in the community with Oracle 11 and Oracle 12 R1 even those we don't officially test those versions.

Thanks. That's awesome. Since I cannot see any other deprecated (or desupported) LogMiner feature (only continuous mining), I assume the the Debezium Oracle connector to be a long-term solution.
