Dear deal.ii users,

I have been trying to compute the displacement of a membrane using deal.ii for about 3 months, but I'm finding it challenging to apply what I learned from the tutorials to my specific problem. I would appreciate if someone could guide me or help me solve this issue.

Here's my problem:

  • Edges 1, 2, 3, and 4 are fixed
  • Pressure is applied to boundary A
  • The material is isotropic
  • I need to compute the displacement field (u, v, w) of the membrane
The governing equation is

and the result should be like this

I would be grateful if someone could provide me with guidance or assistance in solving this problem using deal.ii.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Yufei,

It would help if you could write down a weak formulation for your problem.
Ultimately, it seems that you want to solve a poisson-type problem which is covered by step-6 for example.

Best,
Daniel

Dear Yufei,
We need more information
What is not working? Is it compiling? Are the results different? In how are they different?

Could you please state the entire weak formulation of your problem and the implementation of said weak formulation (e.g. a code snipper of just the assembler).
