Hello everyone, I am currently researching the topic of electromagnetic stirring of molten steel. How can I get started with deal.ii and quickly start my research project. And may I ask how to use ICEM to draw a grid and import it into deal.ii.

deal.II has excellent documentation. A good starting point is
https://dealii.org/current_release/
and in particular the many tutorials and video lectures. These provide the
entry point for nearly everyone starting with deal.II.

I don't know what ICEM is, but assuming it is a mesh generator, it will likely
have the ability to export meshes in a format that the GridIn class can read:
https://dealii.org/developer/doxygen/deal.II/classGridIn.html

ICEM is a mesh drawing software under ANSYS, as our laboratory uses it to draw meshes.
I have looked online and found that Gmsh is used to draw grids, coupled with deal.ii .

May I ask if I should continue using ICEM or go online to learn Gmsh. QAQ

As mentioned, if ICEM can write meshes in a format that deal.II can
read, then you might as well keep using it.

Professor Wolfgang, I would like to use deal.ii to calculate an electromagnetic force and import it into openFOAM for flow field calculations. How can I proceed

As I mentioned in the previous message, you would start with looking at the
tutorial programs and find one that does roughly what you have in mind. A good
starting point will be for you to write down the equations you want to solve,
and comparing with the equations that are already solved in the other
tutorials. There are ~90 tutorial programs by now, one or the other will be
useful for what you want to do.
