Installation for ubuntu

Hi everyone, 

I'm trying to install dealii on my laptop which runs on ubuntu (20.4.6). I followed the instructions with candi with zlib, but when I try the step-1 tutorial I get the error:

dealii-candi/zlib-1.2.8/lib/libz.so.1: version `ZLIB_1.2.9' not found (required by /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpng16.so.16)

which seems to imply the dealii package requires zlib-1.2.9, but candi installs zlib-1.2.8. Is there something I can do about version control?

What about you simply install from the PPA?

https://dealii.org/current_release/download/

I think that Matthias i right. His suggestion always works for me on Ubuntu 24.04.1

Excellent.

Also: This will install (almost) all dependencies on your system. So if
you need to compile for example the current development version you can
simply check out the git repository, and configure and compile manually.
