FJ Race Clinics

Hi,

I realize now that this maybe last happened in 2023 (time flies), but I saw that at one point DC Sail offered "Racing Clinics" with topics such as "Planning and Implementing a Successful Start" and "Fleet Racing Tactics on the Race Course". I'd be interested in this kind of thing if there are any plans to try such a thing again!

Hi Max

This was something that the volunteers put on as a fundraiser for the Youth Sailing Scholarships.  I'd be happy to host events like this... I'm on the board and have to do a "give/get" to stay on the board to represent the racers.

I'll get with Derek and some of the other seasoned racers to see if I can get a "series" pulled together.  Maybe Capitol Yacht Club can host us as well.

Are there others interested in something like this?

Good strategy Mark!  RC always loves cocktails.  Maybe we can take some videos this year to help people see the starts/mark rounds to help trigger and keep those $%^$# Talkers honest! (ehmmm Derek!)

Nicole, I think that Max is referring to the race clinics that I hosted a few years ago. These were paid courses through DC Sail that I offered.

I’m planning on starting an intermediate/racing level FJ course through our DC Sail curriculum this season. Please keep an eye on the website and DC Sail email announcements for more information.

Did I hear my name connected to post race drinking, I’m in!  I’m happy to pitch in wherever I can be helpful. That said there are plenty younger sailors in the club that kick my ass on a regular basis. Maybe they can be leveraged in addition to whatever Cam has in mind.
