Community Change builds the power and capacity of low-income people, especially low-income people of color, to lead powerful and dynamic movements for social change. This position also supports Community Change Action, an affiliated 501(c)(4) advocacy organization. Position Description:
The Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM)- www.fairimmigration.org – a project of Community Change, is the largest network of immigrant rights organizations, comprising 37+ organizations in 30 states. FIRM has been fighting for immigrant rights at the local, state, and federal level for 20 years.
The candidate we are looking for will hold a critical role as part of the immigration team and work across teams in the organization in our efforts to advance Community Change’s overall efforts to build Black, Brown and immigrant power.
The Field Organizer will inform and implement the overall immigration strategy legislative objectives and base building goals with a special focus on organizing and engaging Black leadership within the network and organization.
This position will coordinate technical assistance efforts, trainings and mobilizations intended to build grassroots leadership and organizational capacity of FIRM’s membership.
This position will need to understand the political and economic realities of target states and have an understanding of 501c3 and 501c4 parameters.
A portion of time will be spent working with Community Change’s sister organization, Community Change Action.

This position reports to: Director of Immigration and Power Building
Classification: Community Change recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in Community Change’s bargaining unit and covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Travel Requirements: Due to COVID-19 and Community Change policy, there will be no travel through the end of 2021. Pending the lift of the travel restriction, this position would require regular visits to field partners and for convenings throughout the United States. On average, one can expect to travel 10 weeks per year.
Salary & Benefits: $60,000 – $80,000 annual salary. Community Change also offers an excellent benefits package, which includes 4 weeks of annual paid vacation; additional paid holiday leave between December 24 and January 1; 8% employer contribution to retirement account after six months of employment (and 3% employer contribution for the first 6 months); and a choice of generous health insurance plans.
