Ohio Coordinated Campaign Deputy Organizing Director

Summary: In 2023, Ohio became the nation’s foremost battleground for protecting abortion rights - winning a ballot initiative fight that gave hope to Democrats across the country. In 2024, Ohio will be the center of the battle for control of the U.S. Senate. Ohio must re-elect Senator Sherrod Brown, a champion for workers and the deciding vote on critical legislation. This year offers Democrats the chance to take control of the Ohio Supreme Court, make gains in the state legislature, and defend three battleground congressional seats.

Deputy Organizing Directors (DODs) will manage teams of Regional Organizing Directors, Field Organizers, and additional Organizing capacity to ensure we talk to the voters we need to win Ohio. DODs will build out key goals and infrastructure for our organizing program, and will be accountable for all quantitative and qualitative field metrics in their assigned regions. The ideal applicant has a passion for building teams to reach voters directly in tough races. This position is full time, in-person, and based in Columbus, Ohio.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations:

  Hire, train, and manage a diverse team of Regional Organizing Directors, Field Organizers, and additional paid Organizing capacity to implement the organizing program throughout the state

  Build out infrastructure and accountability systems to ensure the campaign reaches its voter contact goals

  Coach and mentor all Regional Organizing Directors and Field Organizers to grow their professional skills

  Serve as a point-of-contact in assigned regions for Coordinated Campaign stakeholders

  Collaborate with other campaign departments, including voter access, political, training, etc. to help us reach voters and build a strong team

  Other responsibilities as assigned by the Organizing Director

 

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  At least 3 cycles of organizing experience, with a strong preference for at least 2 cycles of experience managing 5 or more paid staff

  Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate campaign needs, build teams, and help others grow professionally

  Proven fluency with NGP VAN and other crucial data and digital outreach infrastructure

  Ability to make and implement plans for reaching organizing department goals

  Attention to detail, highly-developed organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders

  Commitment to electing Democrats up and down the ticket in Ohio

  Meeting and building relationships with voters, constituents, and other key community stakeholders

The salary will range between $6,500 - $7,000 per month and full benefits including PTO as needed, health, dental, and voluntary vision insurance. This position’s schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and is likely to require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle. Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required; this position will include regular travel. Housing will not be provided.
