Media Relations Specialist
Join a fast paced, strategic communications firm that is working with leading labor unions, progressive organizations, nonprofits, voting rights advocates and candidates. Responsibilities:
Work directly with and serve as right-hand support to firm principal
Strategically advise, manage, and execute media campaigns for clients
Write and pitch media advisories, press releases, and personalized pitches to a wide variety of journalists
Proactively identify opportunities for increasing client press visibility
Cultivate and maintain relationships with reporters/editors from local and national media outlets
Deliver in-depth media prep and training for client interviews with major publications and outlets
Qualified Candidates:
3-5 years of communications experience in a firm, agency setting, or related position on a campaign, Capitol Hill or with an organization or news agency
Effective and confident leader who is self-motivated
Must thrive on delivering results, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
Strong writing and grammar skills are a must
Candidates must be able to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills – a natural listener and communicator
Candidates should have a passion for communications, politics, and the 24-hour news cycle
Must be outgoing and a true people person
This position is salaried, commensurate with experience. This is a position with a central office in Washington, DC., with the option to work completely remotely.
