Salary: $70,000 - $80,000
Civic Nation seeks an innovative and experienced youth engagement specialist to become the Director of Student Engagement (DSE) for When We All Vote's My School Votes (MSV) program. Reporting to MSV's Senior Director, the DSE will be responsible for envisioning, planning, and implementing a student engagement strategy that aligns with When We All Votes' core values and MSV's goals. To do this effectively, the DSE will work very closely with the Director of Educator Engagement and Director of Parent Engagement.
This position will be responsible for creating the MSV student experience. This includes building the MSV Club program and the community of students who form the core backbone of the My School Votes program. The DSE will work with the program director to build MSV’s field model and develop the Constructive Civics program that trains young people to become community leaders. Additionally, the DSE will collaborate with WWAV's Field Director and Organizing team to execute a field strategy for WWAV’s focus states as well as national programming as it pertains to MSV. This includes developing content and resources for organizing and advocacy training, managing MSV’s national train-the-trainer structure, creating additional support and opportunities for the MSV student network such as the development of a student pipeline and speaker series. The DSE will also work on formation of partnerships with national youth organizations. The DSE focuses on the student experience in order to ensure MSV reaches its national goals for growth, voter registrations, community-building, and leadership development.
The ideal candidate for this position brings at least three to five years of experience in youth engagement, volunteer management, and organizing. Has demonstrated the ability to foster an environment of collaboration and teamwork. This person should be proactive, detail-oriented, be an excellent project and staff manager, and thrive in balancing the execution of multiple priorities.
ABOUT WHEN WE ALL VOTE AND MY SCHOOL VOTES
When We All Vote is a nonpartisan initiative on a mission to change the culture around voting and to increase participation in every election by helping to close the race and age gap. Created by Michelle Obama, When We All Vote brings together individuals, institutions, brands, and organizations to register new voters across the country and advance civic education for the entire family and voters of every age in order to build an informed and engaged electorate for today and generations to come. We empower our supporters and volunteers to take action through voting, advocating for their rights, and holding their elected officials accountable.
My School Votes is a transformative civic learning, skill-building, and lifelong empowerment program where students learn by doing. MSV will take a hands-on approach to civic education and offer students opportunities to apply civic lessons to real-world scenarios. We bring civics to life and prepare students to engage and lead. The core stakeholders in this work are students, educators, and parents. Every training connects to meaningful action, and every meaningful action connects to the mission of WWAV.
