Dedicated Discussion: Aug 16, 6:30pm
Join us on Saturday, August 16th for Washington DC's Astral Codex Ten Dedicated Discussion Meetup in Herndon. This session's question is "What is intelligence??"

This question was raised at the last discussion group and I've encountered it a few other places. Does artificial intelligence actually have intelligence? What is intelligence in humans, animals, and computers, and how will we know when something achieves it?

The discussion will happen from approximately 7:30 pm until 9:00 pm. You can arrive as early as 6:30 PM and there will be an informal social before and after the dedicated discussion. Some snacks and refreshments will be provided; feel free to bring your own.

This will take place at 205 Meeting House Station Square #403, Herndon, Virginia 20170. There is a parking lot for the building, nearby street parking, and a nearby bus stop. Use code 0072 on the call box and Ben can buzz you in.

ACX Meetup / Nerd Party: August 23, 7pm
This month's meetup will be Saturday the 23rd at 7:00pm. If the weather is nice we may end up outside on the patio with a fire. As ever, all friends, plus ones, and interesting acquaintances are welcome!

We're potlucking, so please bring your best dish and drinks, several others will be as well. If anyone wants to organize other activities, please let us know.

Medieval Dinner: Aug 29, 7pm
On Thursday the 13th Tim is preparing a dinner party which will recreate an Aztec pozole.  Guests are encouraged to RSVP to Tim at 203 822 8821 via Whatsapp, and to bring a drink, or a small dessert or side. Medieval-themed drinks are fun.

If you want to come help cook (or cook your own thing to add) the more the merrier. Just let us know what you need kitchen wise. Food will be served starting at 8.

There are conflicting dates in the title and description of the Medieval dinner. Which day is it?
