Dear Neighbors,
Zev will be sending out the full agenda for the next general membership meeting (on 3/30) shortly, but I wanted to let you know that we will be discussing and voting on bylaw edits. As we talked about last meeting, this is motivated by two important factors -- streamlining our April election and bringing the bylaws in compliance with city ordinances. We plan to ask the City Council to officially recognize the DSNC soon, so it is important that the bylaws meet their expectations.
In advance of the meeting, please take a look at the proposed revisions here. You'll note that they are broken out in a few prioritized tabs:
- First tab contains non-controversial revisions to address grammatical edits, straightforward compliance fixes, and to clarify the language. We hope to vote on this as a slate.
- The second tab has amendments recommended by the election committee, so they are time sensitive. They will be taken up one at a time.
- If we have time, we can continue onto the third tab and take up as many amendments as we have time to discuss.
- The fourth tab has new amendments that can be presented at this meeting, but voted on in the future. (We must have at least a month gap between presenting and voting.)
If you'd like to compare these edits with the current bylaws, they can be found
here.
A big thank you to those of you who dedicated hours of your weekends to wordsmithing the amendments / provided critical input, including Ed Woll, Chris Beland, Zachary Yaro, PJ Santos, Ashish Shrestha, Alex Dehnert, Meredith Porter, Lee Auspitz, Rebecca Rogers, and many of our City Councillors.
Best,
Louisa
