As we transition to the next phase of neighborhood counciling, Marilyn has called a major planning meeting for DSNC outreach! Join us on Monday, May 11, 6-7pm, in the Somerville Public Library West Branch basement (40 College Ave) or at this Zoom link.

In related news, Elaine Almquist is new DSNC board liaison to the Outreach Committee for the 2026-27 term. If you need to contact the committee with suggestions, questions, or requests for volunteer help, you can email dnsc-o...@googlegroups.com.

Section 5.2 of our bylaws requires the Outreach Committee to prepare a report at least every 6 months. I'll have our first one ready for the planning meeting.

Thanks Chris for setting up the Zoom..

Hello All,,

To get you started thinking about outreach, here is a summery of some conversations I have had with a few people.

Are there any demographic groups we feel are under represented? Renters, workers. Possibly workers are not interested unless they also live in the community.

The election committee had success by going to where people were and enrolling them as members on the spot. Where can we go to enroll people? Events in the square - Farmers market, ArtBeat, Flea, music series. Meet people gathering for other reasons not Davis specific - runners, garden club, library meet-ups including book groups and crafting night. Table at the Red Line station. Out of the box idea - the eigth grade curriculum includes civics. Can we enroll them and suggest they get there parents involved?

We should have business card sized handouts.

I look forward to hearing your ideas on Monday!

Farmer’s Market starts the 20th and I will take the first 12 - 2 tabling shift. Perhaps someone more savvy than me can set up sign up. I have table, chairs & stuff. See you Monday!

Darn, can’t attend as conflicts w. monthly mtg. of  SHS Scholarship Foundation at same time! *

BTW the Somerville Foundation (of which I’m a member) just launched last Friday, May 1, a live band to play at Statue Park in DSq. from 5-7:30pm. Will happen every Friday evening through the summer months, so might be good to do some outreach then.
