Hi all,

With the most recent update to the Harvard Dataverse, the affiliation for authors is now a drop-down instead of an open-ended write in field. Where can we find what organizations are available for this drop-down or add one? Or turn it off completely? It's not letting me type in anything. I'm not sure if others are having this problem or if I need to change my settings, but after a few hours sleuthing I could not find anything.

Thanks in advance!

The affiliation field is now configured to do lookups from the Research Organization Registry (https://ror.org), and it should be possible to type in a name that does not exist in that registry if needed.

There were a few days starting July 31, 2025 where the field was broken due to API changes at ROR, but that has been fixed on Harvard Dataverse and we’ve sent instructions out on how other Dataverse instances can fix it.

It’s possible that your browser has cached the old JavaScript being used, in which case clearing your browser cache should restore functionality.
