Toshiba ROMs do have s/n readable in the ROM

Read the ROM of the same model from a drive you have in your stock

seek for its s/n with any hex editor

then bookmark the offset where you have found it and go to the same offset in the attached ROM

This is not the original ROM.
I see SN is not the same.

Can you show us a photo of the component side of the PCB? I need to see the markings on the ICs in order to compare their date codes against the label.

There is a date code in the ROM, but I don't know if it reflects the actual manufacture date.

Hello

there is a missing basic info in your thread

you have uploaded a ROM kindly asking to find the serial number

... but you didn't specified "why" you need it

thanks

it does mean "which is the scope?"

thanks

The date on the label is July 1, 2021.

The date on the PCB is 2014/03/08.

What are the markings on the ROM?

It seems to me that Hitachi serial numbers take the 14-byte byte-swapped text string in the "E2PR" segment and prepend the manufacture date in YYMMDD format.

Therefore the S/N reported by Identify Device would be "yymmddMS43216NS6ZGW".

Toshiba's version of this drive seems to do things differently. Therefore, I suspect that the OP's PCB and ROM are not native.

PCB date code is 1810. The SDRAM date code appears to be 831. The label is Jan 2019. I can't see the others.

It would be nice to see the ROM dump and the Identify Device output.

as you can see from my picture

you have a board that is not for that model of hard drive

and as Franc noticed, the date on your board is really old 2014

There appear to have been at least two different PCBs for this model:

Hello
this is the final word on the serial number for this Hitachi board formerly HGST now HGST/WD

though always an Hitachi board

the REAL serial number to look for is the one on the right little sticker on the front thin side of the drive (as for all hitachis)

that serial number is written endianless with bytes swap in the ROM

attached you find the offset and the serial number, readable.

obviously the label is YRUUKA2F (I wrongly typed 'K' instead of 'F')

I'm confused as to why someone would resolder the ROM on a PCB with a damaged motor controller. Did the client overvolt the original PCB and then do the same thing with a replacement?
