Hello,
I need assistance with this Seagate Expansion hard drive, the details of which are as follows:
Seagate expansion STKP1600400
PN:3EGAP7-570
DOM:04/2025

This external hard drive contains an internal Seagate Barracuda.
Here is how the issue presents itself:
At first, when I try to start it, it is not recognized by either the BIOS or the operating system. However, on Windows, it only appears as an “external hard drive.”
I disassembled the enclosure and tried to power it up without the rack, but there was no change.
I suspect the problem may be related to the ROM, as this particular firmware (FW: EN03) is known to be buggy.
There are no important data on it, but I would simply like to make the HDD functional again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
All the information is shown in the attached images.

 update:

The LED light is on.
I heard a small noise and the motor is running at full speed.
I think it’s a firmware issue or a stuck head.
Could someone provide me with the firmware for this drive, please?

If you can hear the drive spinning its unlikely the heads are stuck to it.
If it starts spinning in the first place its unlikely the ROM is damaged.
Firmware is not something you can just update like windows.

When plugged in what exactly do you hear? Press your ear to the drive and listen carefully.?
It should spin up followed by a few ticks as the heads read from the platter inside.

Ifs its still under warrant send it back. Nothing you can do with a helium drive.

Hello everyone, and thank you for your replies.
I tried listening carefully to the sound, and here is what I noticed:
The motor starts up and it's spin, and I can hear a low “beep” sound intermittently.

If it's spinning then you slowly rock it in your hand you should feel the gyroscopic resistance to the motion.
Compare that to a good drive to get the feel.
Seized Seagate will make a beep every 3 seconds or so.
This beep is the digital pulsing of the motor.

Thanks
I can't feel that  with this hard drive that  I can feel it with other drives.
So if it is seized what can I do ?

Is the 3,3V rail (orange wire) exist in your power supply SATA connector? If yes, then it may activates PUIS feature on the st16000dm001, therefore you have to disconnect it in that case.

I have had to tape over one of the pins on the sata connector to allow drives to spin up ..
You can Google tape over side of pins for spin-up
It's the third pin from the left on the side of power connector
I don't expect that to be what's going on with your drive if it's beeping at seas and if it seized it's not recoverable cuz it's helium

So the drive is not spinning at all?

Just an intermittent beep every couple of seconds?

Hi,
Today I ve tried to clean  the  power pin and I try to listen if there is no  evolution, unfortunately  I only hear small beeps every 3 seconds, and the motor seems to be spinning but there’s no vibration.

What I'm planning is to diagnose the PCB with the tools I have. If it goes beyond electronics, then it’s over, because since it’s a helium drive I don’t have a helium opener — unless I create one myself, but that would take time to study the mechanism and test it over some dead  helium drive.
