Interesting. There is a Samsung variant that matches which I've now identified it as ...

But this drive didn't seem to have a FW issue -- etc... yet DE is very slow and now is non-responsive.

Anwyay, going to work with the FW via Samsung and see if that makes and difference.

Thanks

It seemed like it...

It's a Samsung drive made by Seagate? ...
It's still an F3 drive I believe
Maybe I'm too tired to remember properly but I'll try to send you info from Utility showing why I believe that.

Others seem to have the saaaame exact problem.

Thanks

+1 100% Samsung, requiring Samsung terminal adapter. Can select the HM101xx family in the listing under Samsung.

The slow behavior likely comes from poor reading head(s). Samsung has large zones, hence likely when attempting to clone, it runs slowly because it is still reading from that same head.

Building heads map is necessary to identify what head is the culprit.

High alert for stressing those with bad heads. A bad head can cause scratch easily on those Samsungs. They need supervision.

For Samsung drives there can also be a G-list issue. In data extractor set your read type to use the utility and it will prompt you to bypass the g-list damage. This work for one case we had so I figured I would pass it along.

Ok. Goooood info.

I actually got it going w logical recovery only ... but I’ll check it out for good measure w the Samsung usb utility.

There was some sharing // permissions issues but I was able to take ownership of the user folder (excluding some tiny unimportant system data/folders)

Nice! I was actually thinking about doing that but couldn’t find anything that supported it.

I agree.. There are G-List issues with Samsung drives occasionally. Not as often though.

Toshiba, yes, have G--List (translator) issues frequently.
